If you haven’t heard about Runtz yet, you need to get out more. Universally recognized as one of the best strains of 2020, Runts (also known as “Runtz OG”) is a tasty balanced hybrid strain. With striking sweet and sour flavors and a high potency level, you’ll quickly realize why Runtz has drawn the attention of cannabis aficionados around the world.
Runtz: A Candy-Flavored Powerhouse Strain
A cross between Zkittlez and Gelato, Runtz has a rare 50/50 true hybrid genetic profile. It balances the best that both indica and sativa strains have to offer. And thanks to its high THC level, which can range from 19% to 29%, the effects this strain may provide are nothing short of legendary.
Runtz: Appearance, Aroma, and Flavor
Rutz is an easy strain on the eyes, too. Its deep, dark green buds burst with orange hairs. The entire surface of Runtz is crusted with trichome crystals, whispering secrets of its potency before you even spark it up.
Like its candy namesake would suggest, Runtz delivers equal payloads of sweet and sour flavors directly to your taste buds. It tastes like candy on your first puff, with a taste that develops with each toke thereafter.
A bit more of a tropical vibe makes itself known in the middle of its flavor, before being whisked away by a vaguely spicy tone. Caryophyllene, a peppery terpene, plays a huge role in Runtz’s flavor and possible effects.
Runtz: Possible Effects
Thanks to its hybrid genetic profile, Runtz has a blend of both indica and sativa traits. With that said, it tends to err a little on the side of the indica spectrum. Runtz is super relaxing, to the point of being almost sleepy. However, its uplifting and mood-boosting effects shop it short of feeling like a real indica.
One thing’s for sure when you spark up some Runtz, though. You’re going to want some snacks around to help manage the munchies you’ll inevitably feel.
Children of Runtz: The White Runtz Strain
Runtz is absolutely a great strain in its own right. But one of the great things about it is that Runtz has given rise to its own successful genetic line. And among the cream of the Runtz crop is the elusive White Runtz.
Specifically, White Runtz is a different phenotype of Rutnz. That means while Runtz and White Runtz are genetically identical, they have some physical differences.
One of the main differences between White Runtz and the original Runtz strain is its appearance. White Runtz gets its name from the whitish crystalline sheath of trichomes that cover it. These crystals contain the vast majority of a plant’s THC levels.
In addition to its appearance, White Runtz has a different flavor than OG Runtz does. Where Runtz focuses on sweet and sour tastes, White Runtz has some more distinctively citrus tones. That’s because it leans more heavily on the terpene limonene instead of caryophyllene.
